Organisational challenges
Organisations today face the following challenges:
SCALE - How do I roll out a new initiative to a geographically dispersed audience?
SPEED - How do I manage the constraints of project deployment together with the frequency of change in today's world?
THROUGHPUT - How do I eliminate bottlenecks and improve knowledge throughput by orders of magnitude?
COMPLEXITY - How do I address complex information challenges?
COST - Will I just shift costs from personnel to Infrastructure and Development if I implement an online strategy?
In today's dynamic and demanding world, organisations will only be able to comprehensively meet the demands of their clients by providing true blended CMS solutions.

Looking for demo software?
I was asked today about how best to explain various advanced functions on a website. I explained that they could use some software to to make some small demos such as "How to use?" etc
I advised them to check out www.jingproject.com
The product is "Jing" and it's image and video capture right from your screen. Totally free! They'll even webhost the videos and serve them for you. The only drawback, last time I used it, was that there was no adjustment for the video quality, so they got pretty large.
Camtasia is my favourite:
www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp It's about $300. If you are looking for a cheap tool to capture what's on your screen, Jing (free) is hard to beat. The video is saved as a Shockwave (SWF) file.
In case you noticed Jing is also developed by TechSmith, the same people that brought you Camtasia....

How things have changed over the last 5 years
Today I was thinking the marketing and communications mix is completely different than it was even 5 years ago. Symbolic brands, which was probably the fastest growing source of corporate value for the last quarter century may have reached its pinnacle using the more traditional broadcasting methods.
It would seem to me that technologies have evolved and mapped so tightly against the way humans transact, form relationships and create self-identity that it is time for business management to analyse and understand social networks and how organisations need mature networkers to help them. I suppose 'Networkers' who blog are really a relatively new breed of marketers.

Understanding what we mean by Rapid Application Development (RAD)
RAD consists of tools, techniques and methodologies designed to speed application development. RAD reduces paper-based documentation, automates code generation and facilitates user participation in design and development activities.
The technology we use allows our development team to create a software prototype in a matter of days. The ultimate goal is to accelerate the systems-building process so that applications can go into production when they are most critically needed.
On latest bespoke member site wins with features such as subscriptions, credits and pay per view content RAD has allowed us to keep things as simple as possible. It gets the web team from database design to front end coding in hours not days so the client sees progress almost immediately! After each phase we invoice, are paid, and source code handed over and the next phase ordered.
Speed is particularly important for both the development team and the client as we are both eager to reap the benefits of newly re-engineered business processes.

A company website is like a tender - handle it carefully
The amount of information used by the people on the 'Net' was at first relatively small. Nowadays people concentrate more on relevant information. Everybody wants their content to be viewed by the users and it is here that search engine rankings play a major role.
To find a top position in the search result page is sometimes difficult but not impossible. The search engine optimisation companies provide various services so that your site is most viewed by the searchers.
It is vital to find out where the website of the company is lacking. What is often needed is a an analysis of what could be done quickly and easily and to identify any bottlenecks.
Initial analysis can usually be done in a few hours. Afterwhich a simple report detailing findings can be sent with recommendations on how to improve the site.
